7+14=21. Another week of B&W photo challenge! Day 18..

Atgofion has nominated me to do this again so I am adding another 7 to the original 14!

Some of my pics are new, some are old, some have appeared on Instagram already (in colour). Some of the subjects have special significance for me, some have special significance for friends, some are just pretty pictures.

With regards choosing nominees. I really don’t enjoy doing that. So I am going to use this opportunity to nominate new bloggers and new followers to help them enter the fold of this lovely community. There is no obligation, and anyone else who wants to take part is very welcome to do so!

The rules are: Seven days. Seven black and white photos of your life. No people. No explanation. Challenge someone new each day.

Today’s nominee is:

YOU – I’m about done with the nominating for now! Feel free to join in.

    1. You do indeed. A recent purchase for one pound in a library-surplus sale.😊

I have a story about the author of that book, Chris Grey-Wilson. Back when I organised lectures for our alpine gardening group I got a call on my mobile at work one day. Much to my shock it was Chris Grey-Wilson. He had written in his diary that he was lecturing at an alpine gardening group but had neglected to note which one. Therefore he was ringing every such group in the country to try and work out where he was supposed to be. I never did find out if he found the answer.

By the way. Tonight I took a photo of a gorgeous tiny white alpine poppy on the rock garden!

The book beneath it, Alliums, was written by an acquaintance of ours too.

  1. We can learn so much by looking at someone’s book shelves. I see the Pixies, the Beatles, Leonard Cohen… Great taste in music. I also see Making Silent Stone Speak, Old Wives Tales, some books about drawings, many about plants and one of your bible, The Amaryllidaceae of Southern Africa… Yep, this is definitely you. 😍

                1. Grace Slick wrote it after listening to Miles Davis’s Sketches of Spain for hours on repeat and the bolero rhythm got under her skin. I have tried this by the way and it did nothing for me. Oh well.
