The Questions
What is your favourite Christmas movie?
Die Hard. Yes, seriously.
Do you like to stay in Pyjamas or Dress up for Christmas day?
I dress as normal (scruffy) as I am usually on cooking duty.
If you could only buy one person a present this year who would it be and why?
I am excluding wife and family from this. There is one particular person I met this year who has become a close friend and has encouraged me every step of my journey over the last few months.
Do you open your present Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?
Christmas morning but usually leave a few for boxing day
Have you ever built a ginger bread house?
Nope! My niece did try to fill the house with gingerbread men on tuesday after a somewhat overenthusiastic baking session. There was no golden syrup in the house so she used honey and it works fantastically well incidentally. I suspect Maple syrup would work too and have dropped subtle hints. STOP PRESS: Susan phoned two hours after I posted this to say that she and our niece are constructing a gingerbread house today. It apparently is going to have solar heating because they can’t get the chimney to stick on.
What are you most looking forward to this Christmas season?
A desperately needed week off work.
Any Christmas wishes?
Lavender and Levity suggested she wishes for a Trump impeachment. I can’t better that except by saying that I hope the despicable right-wing UK government is similarly dismantled along with their whole Brexit tragedy.
Favourite Christmas smell?
Whisky! I discovered at the gym Christmas party that I have adjusted well enough to the citalopram to cope with the occasional alcoholic drink ๐
Favourite Christmas meal or treat?
Roast potatoes ๐
How do you traditionally spend your Christmas day?
We often see friends in the morning and then open gifts before lunch. I will cook lunch for mid afternoon. By the time I have done this and washed up not much of the afternoon is left. Will probably watch the Dr Who Christmas episode in the evening.
Do you open stockings first or presents?
Haven’t done stockings for many years! They were always first.
When do you put up your tree?
We don’t bother most years. If we do it is usually in a rush about two days before Christmas.
Least favorite part of Christmas?
I’m not saying in public but will happily rant about it in private!
Any unusual traditions during your Christmas?
Yes.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Sorry, did you want more?
Favourite childhood Christmas memory?
I don’t remember any childhood Christmases, or much of my childhood at all.
Tagging others:
It has taken a few days to put this together and it seems unfair for me to drop it on someone else at such short notice but if any of you feel you have the time I would love to read your answers ๐
Apologies:
I also want to take this opportunity for not being very responsive or reading many of your blogs this week. I have been away with work a lot and also had some upsetting personal news to deal with which has rather pulled the rug from under me. I feel a little better this morning and hope to catch up with the rest of your blogs over the next few days.

The main part of your Christmas tales that interested me was the upsetting personal news!! (You will soon understand why I said that). So sorry to hear and sending you hugs.

You and me both Sarah! I was at a lab equipment demo yesterday and the sales team at the company I was visiting produced a maple and pecan Danish at coffee time. They must have known!
Have a lovely Christmas ๐

Happy Holidays, Super D! I have been behind getting everything ready for the holiday this year. Today is baking day! And some wrapping, too. I hope you are doing ok! Put your cape on and use those super powers! It might be a day you need your theme song on repeat! ๐

A most excellent idea Roda. I will do that! I finish work this afternoon until the 4th so at least I have some rest to look forward to. I may be shopping for my first smartphone this afternoon. Dominique has already promised to make fun of me for it after my years of stubborn resistance!
Enjoy the baking. Susan and the niece are baking again today. I have pointed out that one of my roles at work is Quality Assurance manager and therefore I expect to sample everything they make when I get home tonight.

Nice read your Christmas pics and tradition but Die hard is not a Christmas movie ๐

Die Hard was also Lavender and Levityโs choice and our local art house cinema has it in their Christmas movie season every year ๐

Of course not. I shall be merciful. But if I have to play guitar then, well, you do have that piano….

Sorry Super D. No can’t do here. I’m pretty sure that I have told you already in our private chats that my hubby plays drums and both my kids play piano but I’m the black sheep of the family: I don’t play any instrument. I might be willing to share with you (with you only) a soundtrack (done long ago) of me singing as I was asked once to personify a cat’s voice for a children’s TV show. That sure would make you laugh!
