The delightful Roda at Growing Self has challenged me to take part in this. I was actually hoping she would and was really pleased to accept the challenge. Rather than go for ‘arty’ photographs, many of the ones I post will be simply of places and things important to me, so you can get a glimpse of my world.
The rules are:
“Seven days. Seven black and white photos of your life. No people. No explanation. Challenge someone new each day”.
I want to point out that if I challenge you there is absolutely no obligation to take part. Also – if I don’t directly challenge you but you want to have a go at this then please do! One piece of advice I would give you is accumulate seven pictures before you start and use ‘Schedule’ to set up posts in advance in case life gets in the way and you miss a day…
Today’s nominee is Ortensia from:

Those guitars were a surprise. I didn’t know you played. My husband does, too. I’ll know you are out of ‘exciting’ ideas when I see the pic of a toothpaste tube. 😉

Very fun! I have an acoustic guitar…now I need to learn how to play it! I could then sing folk music for my dear friend Linda!! 😉

I didn’t learn to play until I was 40 so it is never too late to start! Go for it!

Great photo, beautiful guitars. I see one says Aria, what is the other one?

It is a bowl backed Ovation electro-acoustic which I got when I was having shoulder problems because it is more comfortable than the big Aria. I love it and it is my favourite to play. I don’t have an amp and it is a little quiet for playing acoustically due to the small body. Thank you for your lovely comment!

My husband thought it was an Ovation but wasn’t sure. He has an electric Breadwinner. A real pain to string,

Nice. I was looking longingly at a Gibson Byrdland in London last month. Maybe one day!

LOL! I want a Roland electric drum kit and have no idea how to play at all. I just think it would be fun.

We sometimes go to meetings in a church hall where they leave a drum kit out. Sadly they always lock the sticks away!

I’ve been seeing a lot of this challenge on Instagram. Are you on it? As an artist, I think you should!

Funny you should ask. My friend Dominique has suggested this recently too. My understanding is that Instagram is designed really for smartphone users and I do not have one. Just the desktop or my ipad. I am told the phone app works ok on the ipad so it might happen yet! Thank you 😀😀

I think you have to sign up via ‘smart phone’ but you can use it on your desktop. I think it’s limited, but definitely check it out. I find myself favoring it over other forms of social media.

I will check it out. Time is my limiting factor. 🙁

No explanation. OK. But we are aloud to comment, right? I hope. “… Still YOUR guitar gently weeps” I immediately thought of George Harrison’s song when I saw this picture of your guitars. Will love to hear you play some day.

Of course you can comment and ask questions Dominique. And I can actually play that song, or at least I could when I played more frequently… It is one of my favourite songs of all time. I must start playing again.
I watched Halloween the other night and played along with the theme tune!

Playing guitar and watching a film at the same time? You bring the concept of “multitasking” to an all new level my friend!

That’s an awesome shot. I always wanted to learn how to play the guitar. I got one in Germany but never could tune it by ear and now many many moons later that problem could probably be solved with a tuner. 😉

Thank you 🙂
I always use a tuner. Never got the hang of tuning by ear (my hearing is not great at high pitches anyway). I can always tell when it is out of tune but need a tuner to put it right. Thankfully the Ovation has a built-in tuner which is really convenient!

That’s very cool and I would definitely look for one with a tuner would I purchase these days. I don’t even know the brand of mine in Germany and it’s about 30 years old now. An antique lol.
What do you like to play Darren’s? You should treat us with a little video sometimes. Listening to a guitar is so soothing to me and my bohemian heart could listen for hours.

I think I’d need to get back into practice again before videoing anything!
I like to play the same sort of things I like listening to. Mostly songs in minor keys so there is a lot of REM, some Radiohead, Beatles (esp George Harrison’s songs). I enjoy playing along to movie themes too. The British folk band Show of Hands have some great tunes – they have a song called ‘Cousin Jack’ which is about displaced miners moving away from Cornwall – which is my own ancestry in a nutshell. One song I’d love to play is Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You were Here’. It sounds really simple but is incredibly hard to get right and I have not managed it yet!

Sorry for the late response, work gets in the way of most things these days lol. I think that’s pretty cool and ma6be one day I get to hear you play a piece. It doesn’t have to be perfect and I’m sure you play from the heart. What more could there ever be. Pink Floyd’s “wish you were here”is a great one and I think I will listen to it tonight and let it sing me to sleep. You got great taste in music. Thank you for sharing Darren. 😉

I really enjoyed the challenge of working with B&W for a change. My interest in photography has re-awoken.
I always think guitars are such beautiful objects anyway.
